The Village of Peotone operates under the Administrator form of government. The Administrator is appointed by the Village President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. The Village Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Village and is responsible for all day to day operations of the village. Additionally, the Administrator attends all meeting of the Village Board, supervises the preparation of the annual budget, keeps the Board informed of the current fiscal condition of the village, advises the Board of policy issues requiring review, and serves as the representative of the Village Authorities in the transaction of village business.
The Village Clerk is the official keeper of records for the village. The Clerk also attends meetings of the Village Board and maintains minutes of the meetings. The Clerk is also responsible for the publication and codification of ordinances, the administration of FOIA requests, and the administration and recording of all licenses and permits issued by the Village Authorities. The Clerk is also the Local Election Official, and is responsible for in-person absentee voting.
