Verisk/ISO Commercial Property Evaluations

Dear Business Owner,

The Manhattan Fire Protection District is pleased to share that we are partnering with Verisk/Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of properties throughout the fire district. This important initiative helps us maintain our community’s fire protection rating and ensures the most up-to-date property information is recorded. Verisk/ISO is a nationally recognized organization that works closely with fire departments and insurance providers to evaluate structural fire protection capabilities. As part of their process, they assess commercial properties to determine water supply needs, construction features, building size, occupancy type, and other relevant data.

Starting in May 2026, Verisk/ISO representatives will begin visiting commercial properties across the district. All representatives will carry official photo identification and business cards to confirm their affiliation.

If your property is equipped with a fire sprinkler system, the representative will need to review its components and related maintenance records. We kindly ask that you have a copy of your most recent sprinkler system testing report available for their review. Your cooperation with this process will directly support a more accurate community fire classification— benefiting all commercial property owners through potential improvements in insurance ratings and overall fire protection.

The evaluations themselves are informational and are not enforcement inspections conducted by the Fire District.
